Back in 2001 I saw a Silvia very similar to this (same colour paint and interior) parked in the DECA driving course at Shepparton, in Victoria. I remember head butting my undies when I saw it... it was immaculate.

Legend has it they were hand built, and each panel has a matching serial number written on the back of it so panel number X goes on car number X.

 Re: Silvia from the museum
here's some totally useless trivia for ya;
these silvias are built on the same chassis (yes and actual separate ladder chassis) as the Sports 2000, and share the same running gear.

and is it just me, or is that roofline, 'C' pillar, rear screen and side window arpeture reminiscent of a Datsun 1000 coupe?

I don't see the resemblance in the Silvia, but the white car that is next in the line has some strong similarities to my beloved KB10. The curvature of the bottom edge of the side window is more loke the 1200 coupe. The 1000 was straight.
None the less, that Silvia is one VERY nice automobile, regardless of its underpinings.

These things are the nicest datsun retro coupe`. SR you got to be kidding!! with the U20 NA in place it made 150hp from factory with mikunis as in the fairlady convertible. Sr20 with all their technology couldnt fathom more than 140hp in non vtec specs and this thing is pushrod
Not to mention the u20 would weigh the same as the sr20
Its a no brainer to put SRs in everything tasteful you see and make it a ricer.

New-skoolers these days lol lets cut everything up and ram a new turbo motor in it...... ye of little faith, go the oldskool. Ok it might not make 300hp at the wheels, but that silvia is class not arss some nice modding of the orignal motor is all you need. same thing with the original skyline's some people wreck those poor things with the New motors.

"Respect it dont wreck it"... one day i guess 1200s will be so rare that the thought of chopping one will be Inconceivable.

its not ugly!

150 "old" HP is about 125 "new" HP. So those old HP figures are misleading.

But the first sylvia coupe is really cool, isn't it?

I think the white coupe in the backround is an Izuzu, there is an immaculate blue one here in the Hutt Valley. The styling is an acquired taste, just like Veilside "styling" kits on ricers.
