Re: Sump pan for Dry Sump.
design of my dry sump pan...if anyone is interested. Scavange comes from the two fittings on the side, the original oil pump is retained for pressure. The inlet for the pressure pump is at the front of the pan, where the pan is recessed to fit flush with where the oil pick up would have been in a normal sump. A fitting is then added, and the braided line attched.

Ignore the braided line going through the belts...it is just sitting there to keep it off the ground

Hey Nice.!!
What are you using for a scavenge pump?
Do take care with using the standard pump for pressure, they will haemorage if you rev them, they're the worst part of the FJ....

Using a two stage scavange pump, typical drysump style pump.

Revs shouldn't be a problem, the restrictor we have to run effectively limits our power range to 6,500 - 7,000rpm, so no point in revving any harder than that.

Datman, do you know the AN sizes for the stainless hoses on datsun engines, i guess they would all be the same. fuel lines oil lines and brakes?? Ive found a good setrab oil cooler but i want to make sure i can get lines to fit.
Is the FJ in your sunny race car? Car is looking very nice by the way, your flares look choice.

I am not sure of the AN sizing, but I can tell you that the lines to the oil cooler are "Dash 10" insize. The same size lines are used for the oil scavange on the dry sump. Dash 12 is used for the oil supply line.

Obviously, none of this is standard Datsun Sunny stuff

datman55,

How has that system been working for you? I see that you installed it in 2004 to early 05. Does the production pump work out ok?

I am considering a similar system on my SR20DE.

What type of restrictor are you required to run. In the States we have some cars restricted by a single inlet restrictor similar to the FIA GT style restrictors.

Edit: I did some more looking at your pctures and I see that you have to affix the 36mm restrictor to the front of the Turbo inlet. Sorry for that. But at least you get to run a Turbo.

Cheers
