This is a custom made windscreen being fitted to my 1000 sedan. It's laminated, with full soft tint & dark band. This is the second one of three that i had made & used in the car during its lifetime with me. |

Re: Now,.. let me see I have two spare original coupe screens, but they are just the tempered glass which shatters when it is hit hard enough. Laminated is the way to go as even a badly hit one will remain weathertight, which is a big comfort on a dark, cold & rainy night when far far from home.

Re: Now,.. let me see The picture was taken sometime about 1982 - '84 & it was priced at about $20 more than the standard laminated screen at the time. It took only about a week to get them made up too, but sadly Nelson & Muller [N & M windscreens] are no more, so i don't know if i can duplicate this trick for my coupe. The third one of these is still in my sedan, but like so many country cars, it has a crack in it, so i can't even remove it & pass it on to someone else. Bummer.
Third party insurance is required here, you can't get a car registered without it, but all other insurance is not mandatory, however, if you are out on the road without even "third party property damage only" cover, you would be insane. I don't want to be losing my house because i put a ding on the door of somebodys Pullman SE Benz, but without this basic protection, the victims insurance company can make life very uncomfortable for the evil perpetrator of the dasterdly deed.

Re: Now,.. let me see Quote: Third party insurance is required here, you can't get a car registered without it, but all other insurance is not mandatory I suppose you mean third party here to refer to medical insurance for the driver of the other vehicle. This DOES NOT include the other persons vehicle. Its a point i find a surprising number of people misunderstand...

Re: Now,.. let me see Third party refers to ALL PERSONS, [not property] other than the driver of the "at fault" vehicle. That means passengers within, or on the car /cycle, as well as in /on any other car /cycle along with any other persons that are involved [pedestrians etc]
"Third party property damage only" insurance covers only property that is damaged by the insured vehicle, but not the insured vehicle itself.
Anyone who made it into high school should understand that, but then again,...........

Re: Now,.. let me see I just got a new screen for the racecar (2 door sedan) which is non tinted and black band all the way round. The guy said he thinks he also has a coupe screen which I will get as soon as he finds it. My 2 coupes don't really need them but I might damage them when I take them out for paint. So I'll get at least 1 when I can

Re: Now,.. let me see I'd love to duplicate this for my coupe, however the manufacturer, N & M, are no more. Does anyone know if any other windscreen supplier will do one-off's?
Note the inverted aerofoil blade on the wipers. These are coupe items. The arms are the factory, high-speed sports option items. They have a stronger spring in them. Why go aftermarket when the factory provides the goods.

Re: Now,.. let me see Hell, driving any car without at least "Third Party Property Damage Only" cover is insane. This at least covers damage to the other car if you are in the wrong. Can you afford to rear-end somebodys shiney new Bimmer, or Benz, in the wet, even at low speed? Start riding a bike untill you get some cover before something happens.

Re: Now,.. let me see Insurance here aint manditory. I went from '96-04 with out cover. Only cost me $10 a week for 130 odd weeks to pay back some mishaps. I still maintain it was the ambulance's fault. I would have stopped in time the other time too if my brakes weren't on the steel. never mind, long story..............

Re: Now,.. let me see Like bart said, If I hit somebody, you can pay it off, so in the long run it cost you less But really, I'm getting round to it

Re: Now,.. let me see dattodevil - i got given a car by someone (AE82 rolla). 2 weeks later someone drove into me. some insurance company has been sending me these hopeless letters for years, about me oweing them 4 grand. i still choose to ignore them. get some insurance. A14force lifes a bitch isnt it. must've been hectic with an ambulance involved that windscreen rules how much was it. it looks odd how all my windows are dark then the front is just 100% transparent. also it gets damn hot sitting in traffic with all that sun coming through the window.
