I took a gamble & bought it sight unseen. Does it look OK to you? It's got 63,000 miles on it.

those hub caps HAVE to go.is this the present for your son.if it is,he's a lucky boy.& it's an auto.i suppose the boss down the road is
whispering in your ear already about things.
perfect place for another one of those a12/a14 motors, using the original block.you have to
get another battery & bring it across to goulburn on the weekend, thats if you're not
working.

 Re: Is this OK?
I would love to bring it to Goulburn, but it's not registered yet & it's tuesday already. I managed to get it home at about 6pm tonight.
I will give it a go anyway, otherwise it's the trusty 200B for me.
Yes, this is the one for "Dat_nat" [No. 1 son]

P.S.
"The Boss" hasn't seen it yet & i suspect the young apprentice will be ticked off as he prided himself on having the only registered 1200 coupe in town.
Can anyone confirm if Stanza SSS wheels fit OK on these?

From memory they are 14 X 5 1/2 inch. I briefly had a set on my 1200. Worked well witout any hassles. I only ran the "185 variety' wide tyres. nice comfy ride........

sss stanza wheels are 13x5 1/2,& will fit with
standard coupe brakes, but the wheel studs
need to be replaced for longer ones, unless you
can get the original wheelnuts.you will have trouble with anything wider than a 175-185 tyre rubbing on the strut,as well.just get some 175/70 -13's.or maybe some 200b aspen mags with 175/60-14's,they'd be nice.

 Re: Is this OK?
What, ... you will give me your incomplete, factory EFI, & all you want from me is this scabby old coupe, man, i wish you had spoken up earlier, but i have promised it to my son. Damn & blast it, that's an offer i shouldn't pass up,.... but,.... unfortunately, i must.
What a bugger.

The Stanxa SSS wheel is 13" x 5-1/2 but it is offset a half inch further inwards than the other mag wheels that i have. The other ones worked OK on my 1000, but the Stanza ones hit the suspension upright.
I have two servicable SSS rims here, so i guess i will need to jack up the car & give them a trial fit. If i have hassles with clearances or wheel nuts, i'll get something else.

Whichever wheels i use, i would like to run the two new Pirelli P6 185x60x13 tyres that i still have left over, on the front, & some 195x60x13's on the rear to help gear it up a little.

I also have 200B-SX wheels on my 200B, plus three more on the box trailer & a few left over as well. These are dimentionally identical to the Aspen mags, so i might see how they fit too. They will need some pretty low profile tyres to work properly on the front though.

edit
Stock 600 x 12 tyre. = 574mm dia.
185 x 60 x 14 = 578mm dia.
195 x 60 x 14 = 590mm dia. ... Using these two sizes front & rear could be OK

Nice find. Looks great.

Monstrously big compared to a Datsun 1000 ...

 Re: Is this OK?
Not really. The 1000 is surprisingly roomy for such a little car. The length & height are similar, but the 1000 is a bit skinnier, which just means that it gets nice & chummy inside.

The Stanza SSS wheels fit just fine & miss the strut by about 1/4" [6 mm] or less, [it looks less] but i suspect that even a 185x60x13 tyre would rub on the strut.. The other rims, with an extra 1/2" [12 mm] of outward offset would clear with room to spare, however, the lightweight Momo's look like they will need special nuts as i can't get a wheelbrace into the wheel to do up a regular nut.

Edit
A 185 x 60 x 13 tyre on the Stanza rim clears the strut by a cats whisker, but it does clear.

Nice find Dodgeman, the first thing I noticed was how Niiiiiice and straight the shell is, very good buy considering you didnt see it in the flesh beforehand. They are getting very hard to find in original condition these days and that looks like a fine example. Enjoy.

Just in case anyone hasn't twigged, this is the same car as the one in the photo above [in photo album] The diferent colour in the newer photo is due to the fact that it was shot late in the afternoon with the colouring effect of the setting sun.
It looks & runs much better now.

I'll see if the nice doctor at the car hospital where my 1000 coupe is, can fix a few minor blemishes. I will give it a major service & it is destined to be a driver for my son at University. He now needs a car only on weekends & it will be garaged, so it should serve like this, [but with mags,] for a while, then after that, who knows what will be powering it.

That door mirror needs to come back a few inches as it cant bee seen properly throuh the flipper window & i will see if we can match it on the other side.

The dramas involved in geting it home would fill a book. Battery is totally US, I needed to buy a tyre in order to get a pink slip to get a permit to drive it home. Bucketing rain, howling wind, & i stalled it at the lights in the middle of town. Not only would the battery hold no charge at all, but it's an auto & the rain was pouring down.

It's safely home now.
