Like a ghost from a long lost civilisation, this Datsun 1000 two door sedan flew the flag at Datnats 05 in Goulburn for all the 1000 owners who were unable to show off their cars.  Thanks for being there for us.

No i had the springs reset and hardened by pedders for $80, much nicer than using lowering blocks it is lowered 2.5 inches and sits about .5 inch off the standard bump stops which are huge so im going to cut them down alittle. In the front i just took the rubber spacer out and cut it in half, i could probably do a little more but i will do that when my lc torana shocks arive and i rebuild the front spring a little stiffer!!!

I had a good look at that 1000 coupe & i have to say that my heart sank when i checked it out & spoke to the owner.

He had aparently owned it for about 10 years & he asked me what the diff ratio was. 10 years,... & he still didn't know.
It was sadly, the worst car that i saw all weekend & if the rego Nazi's had got a hold of it, it would have been leaving NSW on a trailer. The rust was very bad & i personally believe that it was just plain unsafe, but that is a personal opinion. It looked to have advanced rust at the base of the windscreen pillar that was not visible untill the door was opened. That part woried me.

There are no plans to save it, just to keep on driving it, so i presume that it will be driven untill it finally falls in two & is discarded as scrap.
It made me sad.

no its all original im the second owner of the car and it has 104000 original miles. Theres only about 5 dents in the car and a little shouv in the rear. The first month i had the car a person reversed into the front of me you can see in the photo the front of the guard is creased and bumper is pushed in. I just put a a12 in about 3 weeks ago made the car alot more drivable.

It looks to be a '67 model with the small round blinkers & three on the tree, but with '68 grille & headlamp surrounds.
Proudly displayed in Goulburn during Saturdays show & shine

We're proud of you.

Thats a nice looking ride same color as my last van I sold. Is the owner on this site?
The wheels are pretty rare too.

Thanks boys that is my little 1000, i tried to spot a few guys around but i could only make it on the sat, and i was with some of the 1600 guys.. I was a little disapointed i was the only 1000. Yeah the wheels are 13x5.5 ROH, and your right it is a 67 standard model ( ie. no heater, radio, carpet) that was sold in 69.

That is a very looking 1000! I love the look of these cars with the cut off kinda look of the wagon like somethings meant to be there but not... Nice straight body too!

has this been restored or is this a very nice looking stocker?

Ive seen 2 of these in tassie, one which has definately NOT been looked after (blue and dented all round, kinda maskes my cry) and one which some silly person has put stupid stripes and graphics all over it ruining the classic effect...

Dave

Whose stanza is that next to it? Any genuine GX stanza there? I love the look of those...

Yeah it was good to see the 2 1000's there over the weekend. 2 young blokes where there with the white coupe at the track on sunday and I do recall seeing Dodgeman hovering around it as I went to the tuck shop
