So they say ...

You do need a manual driveshaft. The transmission if different length from automatic.

Of course, you could have switched to the 4N71B trans & had the converter modified for a higher stall.
Better launch, smooooth cruisin & overdrive to boot.

they are the same length: however the yokes are different: the pic gives a clue. the auto tailshaft is shrouded/hooded where as the manual gearbox is shrouded/hooded, also the auto yoke is larger diamater and is longer!

no, It is a Jatco 3N71B - it's not going back in either! I like the F4W60A (I think it'an F4W60A) much better

hmmm So to do the swap Did you need the box, pedal assembly, tail shaft, clutch cable, flywheel, shifter, clutch assembly and crossmember from a manual 1200/120Y?
any thing else I have forgotton? may be attmpting this soon just worried how long the diff and box would last behind a worked A15 and to swap to a H165 diff and strong 5 speed would be too expensive

My 20000km h145 lasted two days behind a worked a14 and a manual comapared to the stock A12 auto. It wasn't as hard driving as some would assume. Must have just hit it at the right time to blow it to pieces.
