dont mind the messy wiring... still gotta neaten it all up... and relocate the emission control unit (fixed to firewall) to inside under the dash somewhere...

its booked in for an exhaust on monday..
then ill be able to play around and tune her up without annoying the neighbours... too much!

Looks good Ange. Make sure you post up any dyno figures or quarter times. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

Good on you mate. If you get a nice sensible exhaust for her, you'll get lots of enjoyment from it without drawing too much heat from car thieves/the fuzz.
Rotary cars (factory mazda ones) are just like cheating on your missus. Lots of fun, but more trouble than it's worth in the long run.

matty its a standard 12a for the moment... so it wont be making a heap of power just yet...

however i do plan to dyno it and run it down the quarter as it is for a comparison before some engine work is done...
Im hoping its somewhere in the 15sec bracket for now....

hows your beast coming along evan? back on the road?

Ange
Whenever I have to work on anything at the back of my engine bay I WISH I had fitted a ported 13B! Compact and plenty of poke.

Hearsay. Better if you stick to things you know about.

Real car guys love all sorts of cars and all sorts of engines.

This ute is looking real good!

 Re: Datsun 1200 Ute RE
gave the ute a single run with a gtech timer tonight...

and recorded a 16.1 at 90mph

this is with bone stock 12a engine
tuned by ear
very very restrictive exhuast
175/13 tyres & heaps of wheelspin
and with a passenger...

the time is nothing to brag about but
it is a starting point... considering the variables (the biggest one being my driving ability) im happy with the time and more so the 90mph trap speed...

she's plenty of fun to drive and after all datto ute's do a 20+ second pass in standard form

ill keep you's posted on any improvements

Top work mate. And not a bad time either for a bog stock and probably not the best of tune as well as not been used to it. I assume a rotor would take abit of getting used to. Like the power band etc. I have a big soft spot for rotors now.

My cousin had a 323 with a 12a peripheral port and it ran a 13.4. He then sold it to a bloke that put it on slicks and it ran a 12.6 to become what he was led to believe the quickest N/A rotor in New Zealand.

Again top work. I wish I could take my car off the road and do something like this. Keep us informed im listening closely. Did I hear a Brap somewhere.
