 Re: Saved from the squasher The stack of cars that surrounded this ute in an earlier photo have been squashed, but this one was saved at the last minuite. It is intended to combine the best parts from this ute & the one in front to make one good ute.
I have arranged to buy one of the rear axle assemblies & will fit it up with the TRX Bluebird diff & disc brakes that i have laying around. You never know, i might slip something more peppy into the 1200 coupe, so i will have a rear end ready to go if i do.

Re: Saved from the squasher How much did you arrange to buy the diff for? I was gonna pick it up for Low1000 ages ago when I went down there for the 1000 ute but the owner stuffed around and couldnt deceide whether the sky was blue or grey. Hopefully Stuart at M&T actually owns it now.

Re: Saved from the squasher 1200s in wrecking yards in Queensland seem to be as rare as rockin horse ####e. Havent seen one yet around the 35km zone of wrecking yards around home. Although there are 120y's galore. Over 12 in one of the yards alone and at least 5 of them with big borgwarner rears which he would sell for $100 if anyones interested.

It appears to have been gifted to the present owner who has facilities in Polo Flat [Cooma's industrial area] I propose to return to the area very soon to pick up some more stuff, & conclude negotiations for this rear axle assembly.
Cooma is a hotbed of Datsun stuff. I found a bloke who claims to have a quantity of new 1000 stuff in a shipping contaner in Polo Flat, but it won't be opened for a little while yet.

Re: Saved from the squasher I agree with your sentiment, but it must be remembered that these utes were on sale in Australia for at least 15 years, & in Japan [& elsewhere] for over 20 years.
In some parts of the world, they can still be bought new, some 35 years after they were first released, so i don't know if the word "rare" would really be applicable in this particular case.
