I'm kinda hot on that 60's era, jacked up in the front, drag look. I like the frameless window look as well.

The vinyl top comes next & i am interested in a couple of black 1200 headrests in excelent condition as these will fit the 1000 seats. So if you have some that you can spare, please drop me an e-mail.

I sat in it today & i had such a rush of feelings that i think i almost had an org**m. Maybee i should get out more.

why is there a patch of different colour on the door? is that where the mirror goes?

Looking very nice. now all you need to do is drop a L series motor in there to get the front end to the right ride height

 Re: Drag it out.
There is a strip of masking tape on the door to allow us to mark out where the mirror is to go.

While all Australian 1000's seem to have had external mirrors as standard, they were an option on the JDM Sunny model. If ordered, they were optionally mounted on "fender or door" to quote the original sales brochure. While Aussie ones seem to have all been fender mounted, this was simply the default position & if you were a new !000 purchaser, you could request door mounting.
My car will obviously have them mounted in the factory optional position on the doors. The mirrors were actually installed in Australia by either the distributor or the dealer at the time that the car was being prepared for sale, & a variety of mounting positions & placements will be noted by those who look.

I think that they look better & are certainly more practical on the doors.

My undying gratitude goes out to 2332owner who secured a pair of new, original JDM Sunny Coupe [KB10] mirrors for me. These have a diferent shape mirror head to all other Sunny & Datsun 1000 models, which were round. The Aussie 1000 coupe also had the round mirrors.
The JDM coupe mounting arms are diferent too, & my car had the correct ones, but with the round mirrors, & they were fender mounted. This was the only time i have ever seen the correct coupe mirror arms as original fitment on an Aussie 1000. These are now in my spares box.

Thanks again Josh

 Re: Drag it out.
OK, I took these pics yesterday strangely enough.
This is from the passenger side of the wagon. ( both sides are the same ) It just needs the bottom piece glued back on or replaced. Drivers side I havent checked out to good yet. It has a scuff mark on the drivers side head rest from the drivers head rubbing on it. I need to see if it will clean off or not.
Have your seats already had rests fitted, or will you need the slots out of the seatbacks also?

The Datsun 1000 coupe seats are made to take head rests & they were an option on the Sunny Coupe [KB10] in Japan, but seem to have never been offered here. The plastic gromets in the top of the seat have little plastic plugs in them.

I pulled a headrest from my sons coupe & fitted it to both of my coupe's seats & it sliped in perfectly.
I am attempting to get a pair of originals from Japan & they may become available in time, however, i though i might hedge my bet if i could come up with some 1200 ones in the meantime. They look quite good in the 1000.
