It looks like a customized sump. Somebody welded the wings onto it.

Ive seen a 720 sump on ebay a while back, looked quite like this, i remember seeing welds on the wings so it might be factory, im going searching on the weekend so i will see what i can find!
Also those ribs on the bottom are unlike any l-series sump ive seen as well.

The sump is I believe from a 720 4 wheel drive. I have an L20 in a sedan with a notched crossmember and one of these sumps and it is the lowest sitting L series conversion I have yet seen.

was the wings added, and was it in a 4wd 720 w/a naps z, or w/ a l series?
