another project car sitting in the backyard waiting for some attention. Has minor front end damage and all the paint is 'crazed', but when I saw the 4.4l alloy V8 and 5spd sitting under the bonnet, I had to have it...

the car is acctually an australian delivered 240K GT (being a two door) the only difference between it and the foor door is lack of two doors, everything else was the same. as for those flares, if anybody could tell me where i could get some i'd be very happy.

badging says its a GL. I think the GT was a limited model run, and some (weirdo) rally guys use it a a homologation thing...

I sold this just a few weeks ago to a friend of a friend, who's really keen on it. So hopefully it will be hitting the racetrack in a year or two.

repo GTR flares (like these) are now available in Aus for a very reasonable price.

Wow. How does it actually go?
Did it set you back much?
Hmmm think of puting the engine in the 1200?
Well at least it's a nice thought....

yeah nice thought! that would get the 1200 moving, but I think it will stay in this car

paid $800 for it, but like I said it needs paint and has some minor damage. Mechanically it seems pretty good, but needs some better suspension and brakes. (I robbed its front brakes this weekend, which will end up on the 1200 shortly)

I don't really know how it goes yet. I bought it unregistered and I have only driven it about 300m. Seems to go pretty well though and sounds great. And the tacho still thinks its a 6cyl so it looks pretty impressive watching that spin a bit faster than it should!

Nice project. I would think the engine and trans alone would be worth the $800.

This car is a Skyline, right? We never got those in the US. I thought all Skylines were sixes.

ddgonzal, yeah it is a Skyline C110. These were sold in Aus as a '240K'. Standard in Aus with L24 and 5spd, and the 1600 H510 style IRS. Japan had other models of this car including (from one extreme to the other) a GTR version with 160bhp 2000cc 24valve straight six (S20 motor) and wheelarch flares, and there was a short nose version with the L18 4cyl!!!

The engine is out of Leyland P76 (Australian built car) and is all alloy 4.4l pushrod V8 based on the Rover V8 (which was based on a Buick V8). Gearbox is Toyota Supra steel case 5spd with an adapter kit made by Dellow Engineering (Australian Company).

I'll get around to it one day I guess. I just always seem to be either doing or planning something for the 1200 coupe

Looks and sounds like a cool car, even before the V8 conversion. Those aluminum Buicks are still considered a good swap engine here in the US, even though Buick stopped making them after 1963. They were only 215 cu in (3.5 litre) at that time.

1200ute8u1, I believe the Skylines came from the merger of Prince with Nissan. Datsun was never separate from the "Nissan" company, Datson/Datsun was the brand name, the Company was variously called Datsun or Nissan.

 Re: 240K (C110) V8
Prince merged with nissan and Ive read that this model skyline was in the drawing boards in the early 60s but didnt get made till the early 70s cause from design to production it took that long in those days. If anyone sees a prince skyline gt 66-67 model with the 6 cylinder let me know they rock big time and to think that in its debut at the Japanese grnd prix running along side with fully backed Le Mans racers like Porsche it lead most of the final stages until it broke an axle or something and came 2nd overall. That little history I read somewhere on Ratdat or other site which explains the reason the first one made many japs dream or skylines and set the road for todays successful R series.
Imagine I just missed out on this same car but with an engineered rb20 turbo.
