Re: R31 rear brakes the diff is just sitting on the leaf springs in this pick so that I can work out the height of the mounting brackets and get the pinion angle

Re: R31 rear brakes Are you using the entire rear axle assembly from an R31 - or just the diff.
I notice the disc brakes on the back....
I would have thought it would have significantly widened the track if it was all R31 stuff.
But my lack of experience here is showing (hence the question)

Re: R31 rear brakes It's a complete r31 diff that has been shortened so that it fits in the 1200

Re: R31 rear brakes Wogboy, I have the exact same setup in my sedan and it works very well, as im sure you've heard before. Have you tried to change the brake pads yet? I went to change mine just before Powercruise and found out that theres a special tool to getting these pads back on, they have the same setup as an astra. If you don't already have the tool (not sure of the name) then I'd go to your local mechanic and ask him which tool you need as it will same you alot of time and trouble when you do go to change them.

Re: R31 rear brakes To shorten them I assume you have cut the axles at the wheel hub end and re-attached at to the hubs.
If so - was it an easy job? undertaken with a free sunday and an angle grinder?
Trying to get an idea of the level of fabrication skill involved

Re: R31 rear brakes It was easier than that I sent it to Kev Rowley in Brissie told him the width gave him the cash and he sent it back to me the width I wanted, if you want his no. I can PM it to you
