 Re: Nearly finished
I am waiting on some new rubbers from rare spares, I also need to cut and buff the car and fix some imperfections in the paint as I panel beated and painted the car myself. Alot of hours went into the body as 1000 parts are scarse and once I stripped the car alot of bog and other nasties were lurking underneath. The boot is two boots joined together as one had rust the other had dent and bend. The doors are off a 1000 ute with the stricker location cut off the old doors and welded into the ute doors as they are in different locations. THe gaurds are quite good but needed some rust repair and the brace on the back cutting out. I un picked the bonnet frame off so i could panel beat it without using bog, and also the rear beaver is a new one. All these body restorations were done to minamalise the use of bog due to the fact 1000 are thin metal that flexes and bog often cracks over the years due to this.

This is indeed the grey ghost from dat nats. Not going to run the front blinkers as one of the blinkers is actually smashed and I just glued it together. Also I want to get the bumpers straightened and re chromed as weel as the window channells around the doors chromed then I will be happy.

Thanks for the comments guys, I get so many looks everyone thinks its a fiat or a mazda or something, no badges fools them, but those in the know appreciate it straight away.

Cheers,
Daniel

The engine is just a re- cond a12, with extractors and a mild exhaust. 4 on the floor. Nothing special. I havent painted the engine bay as yet thats part of the nearly there part also. I want to detail the engine etc so as soon as I get another daily driver I will take it off the road and give it some attention.

good job S13, especially doing all the prep and paint work yourself. That car is a real credit to you.

It's a shame that you didn't contact me about the '67 model blinker lights as I may well have been able to help out.

If it turns out that i need to get rid of my 1000, do you want it? Obviously, it would be going to a good home...

Wow! Beautiful.

Hmmm, often wondered about the clearance between the parkers and the front bumper, but yours looks the same as mine (like someone has ever-so-delicately nudged up to something and bent the bumper and mounts up a little).

Very Very Nice!!!
Looks like a lot of hard work & tlc has gone into this.
Are they 510 hubcaps I see there?
Is it a stocker or do you have something naughty lurking under that shiney bonnet of yours?
Once again Trick looking Ride, Well done!

Simply beautiful! You should be very proud of your efforts mate. What is left to be done? Will you have your 1K at any car shows so we can see it in the flesh?

You're right, he does.

A couple of questions though, Is this the grey two door that we saw at the Nationals?
If so, then this is actually a '67 model, but what became of those lovely front guard blinkers, or is that the 'yet to be finished' part?

Painting it such a dark colour was a brave move as it tends to highlight any imperfections in the body, yet it looks just fine to me. Plenty of work in geting it straight enough for such a colour.
Great job, & I like the clever way of disguising the 13" wheels with the 510 hubcaps. The whitewalls give it the right touch of class too.

Datsun 1000, you know you want one.
