Re: Ianey I see you have a photo from the factory broucher (as aviator) This is the same colour as my road coupe (kings red) The front of your coupe looks pretty bad. For some reason most 1000 have front damage this may be from the std front drum brakes which are almost impossible to repair and keep in adjustment

Re: Ianey I had my 1000 sedan on the road for many years [from 1980] & many many miles with a 1200GX engine & five speed, & had absolutely no problem keeping the original drum brakes in good repair & adjustment.
These are the same brakes that were carried over to the heavier 1200 model lineup [except for disc brake models] so they were quite 'adequate' for the 1000.
I'd say that, on many occasions, frontal damage like this, to any car, relates much more to the owners mechanical ability, his attitude to the car, & his driving ability. Any combination of these would do it.
Black will always show up any body panel imperfections, even flat black.
