This is the back of the engine when we took my gearbox out. Note the the nicely "massaged" floor near the front of the tunnel.
Also note how much it doesn't look like the underside of Wally's Wagon.

It's probably the crankshaft seal, but it could be the sump gasket.
Lobster mate, Dattos aren't "supposed" to leak oil..although some people do think it's normal.

While you had the box out, Did you manage to fix the (what looks like) the rear sump seal and stop the oil from leaking ?

Nice panel beating job by the way.

Cheers

REar what seal?

Nah I didn't even see the pic that well until I put it on the computer. Used a flash for the pic. Didn't have that much light down there when actually working on it. So didn't see it

Kinda wishing that I noticed that now though...

The panel beating: was done because (Don't know if youremember me bitching about getting the gearbox back in or not) it was a real issue to get the gearbox back in. Kept on hitting the tunnel. I didn't do that this time though. Did it last time, like almost three years ago now.
I think that the A15 might sit a tiny bit higher perhaps tahn the A12. Cos I changed the clutch in it just before the A12 died and I did almost all of it myself.

Maybe you could always hit the tunnel back out from the inside with a rubber mallet. Just a thought.

Cheers.
