this coupe has a slightly lower hood than the sedan or wagon and it has a distinct resemblance to the early mustang sloping turret and bootline, it's a nice looking car and I believe that ther'es not that many about, they are the aftermarket import I've been reliably informed by a self professed expert of the early datsun range. Well what really  I meant is,  " they were'nt sold in Australia as an off the shelf vehicle

I think you will find that they were sold in Australia and Japan only. Dodgeman???? That photo is what I used for my avatar, just photochopped. Have you got any pictures of your actual car?

Here's one sold new by Capitol Motors:Quote:
See original dealer decal in the back window. Capitol Motors was also the N.S.W. State Distributor for Datsun cars at the time.

They are a bit uncommon, but were definately sold here in the regular lineup.

The S stands for Sunny, all the 1000s, 1200s, 120Ys etc are Sunnys.

The KB10 in the pic is a Deluxe, as were all the Australian coupes.

I knew a guy a few years back who had 2 of these coupes and a sedan , but this was in the early 90's and that's when no'one wanted them .

As far as I can tell, the coupe was sold only in Japan, as the Sunny Coupe, & in Australia, as the Datsun 1000 coupe.
If they were sold elsewhere, then we haven't heard of it yet.

Australian distributors seem to have specified the DeLuxe version of the car & the Australian model came standard with many items that are quoted as options in the Sunny coupe. Things like heater, radio, tach, & in most instances, two external mirrors. although I have now seen a few examples that did not come with external mirrors. So far, these seem to be Victorian cars.
Come to think of it, I inspected two ex Victorian coupes yesterday & not only did they never have the external mirrors, but they were only 32 numbers apart off the assembly line. I wonder if this means anything.

Anyway, the KB10 Datsun 1000 coupe was a regular showroom model in Australia & they were very popular.

As far as I'm aware the KB10 was not sold anywhere in Europe but there is a chance one or two countries may have got them. Maybe Denmark as I know they sold B20's there which were not sold anywhere else in Northern Europe.

I presume you mean roof here? This applies to most coupe and hardtop versions of Datsuns.
