Spot on Dodgeman is one of the Nismo competition pumps, bought it of ebay/member a little while back.

It has not been the easiest things to fit because it fowls with the alternator mount, I think they were designed for the 1200 block which has the alternator on the passengers side, I've nearly got it to fit.

Yes I've had to put a new cam in the motor because the lobe on inlet No.2 pot was about half worn out, this would explain the lack of power i've had for the last few events.

I've gone for a cam with 107deg lobe seperation, 246deg duration @ .050" lift and just under 1/2" valve lift. The cam has been undercut to get this and then nitrided.

I really can recommend a company called Sure Cam for any A series cam work, speak to Phil Duggin, 07 3352 4777, he really knows his stuff.

While the motor was apart I got the block hot dipped to get rid of some of the scum, honed and new rings and bearings.

I started it yesterday and was glad to see the motor idle smooth again at 1200rpm.

I've got an event at the end of the month at Rockhampton so I need to get it run in and soughted by then. I can't wait to get it back on the dirt and have some power back again

so what does it mean when someone says they have a 54/86 cam? how do I translate those figures into lift, lobe seperation, duration, etc.
When you dial a cam in if the spec sheet says intake opens 23 degrees btdc does that mean I would use two dial gauges, one to measure piston TDC and the other resting on the intake cam lobe while I rotate it to suit 23 degrees on the degree wheel? is that how it works? I have never done one before and I have a new cam, head and carbs to bolt on
