Jesus Christ that is a bloody clean engine bay, I can't even see a spec of dirt, grease or even a finger print any where! well done ol chap....well done indeed! I was thinking of going with a brand new twin weber set up until I seen the price for them too (choke)
Hey DTW, nice work !! Looks fantastic - lots of hours in there Is it the photo or is your brake line copper?? I know the large one is fuel supply but the brake line looks copper too. Thought you had to use steel by law?? - or is that old rule superceeded now? Cheers
The fuel supply is the larger line and yes both it and the brake lines are steel. They do look like coppoer colour in the photo though. You're right about the time spent on it.....it would've been easier had I not thrown out the old lines when I pulled everything off the car. I could've used them as a template.
Matty. I'm thinking about running a catch can where the washer bottle used to be but haven't got around to that yet. Alternative was to just run a filter on the breather. I had a dodgy one on it when I tan the car but just capped the hole for the time being to stop crap getting in there. Dan
So many questions. Wat manifold is that??, the linkage kit?? wat did it cost ya, Throttle cable stock one?? love that fuel regulator were ya get it, Top stuff looks great wish i could have a car that clean(live on dirt road) Woud appricate any answer as im going to be setting up some twin 40 on me a14 very soon
Motor is a15. Manifold is stamped GX and the guy who built the motor supplied it so no idea where he got it. Others on this site might be able to help there.
Linkages I made up. Got some hex bar from engineering shop. Cost about $5.00. Mounts for the hex bar are from a bearing supplier (BSC in Orange but any bearing supplier will have them) cost about $20.00 (??) each, and the linkage arms are from Redline (Part number 42-105 Adjustable Ball Joint Linkage 145mm (5.75") between centres closed. Auto One sold the Redline gear. I think they were about $7.00 aussie each set (two ends and adjustable bar.)
Throttle cable is a new one which I also got at Canobolas Auto One in Orange. Testing the memory but I think it was about $19.00. Again you could probably get the same thing from any auto parts place. They also supplied the regulator which is a Holley regulator. Can't remember but it was either $70.00 or $90.00 or thereabouts.
The distributor is from Ignition Components & Electronics in Cheltenham North Vic. Cost $620 (incl GST) delivered. It's been graphed for the motor setup and works fine. Their number is 03 9532 6000 if you need one.
Carbies I bought new and were about $800 or $900 each but you could get a set from someone on the site a lot cheaper that'll do exactly the same job. Mine are 45's.
If you need any other info let me know...or ask the guys on here...they're good.
Don't worry about the postage...I'll fix all that up.
Engineer only picked on 5 things...
- no roll cage padding (I had it but it was sitting on the passenger seat & didn't have time to put it in...) - no sunvisors (left them out because the cage didn't allow much room for them....but he said they had to be in there so I put them back in) - No "Water Only" sticker on the washer bottle (it's a moon fuel tank and it's marked as that on a label, but he wanted that covered up with a "Water Only" sticker) - No pattern on the gear lever. Said it had to have one for rego and he wouldn't engineer it without. - Wanted the wiper arms painted matt black. Said he wouldn't pass it with the original "shiney" look on them. Reckoned RTA wants all new rego's done with matt black wipers same as new cars. I had another black set sitting there and held them out to show him...he was happy with that without them even going on the car.
At least it's done now.....and all I have to do is convince the blue slip guy.
Nah I've been away from home for 9 months working and have only just got back to get the thing finished. It's engineered and ready to go....just need a blue slip and drive it to a track. Maybe Bathurst at next hillclimbs. I found that box of parts I told you I'd send you still sitting here too .....they'll be in the mail this week. Dan.
