My grandad had a Subaru with a cool security thing.

In order to start you had touch a bolt he had located under the dash while turning the key.

The circuit was completed through your body. Unless u knew which bolt to touch the ignition was useless.

So 10 months later and the Y has just been reinstated today for daily driving duties after the Mrs excel shat itself on the weekend.

Forgot how much fun A series engines are after the pokey 5k-is-gonna-bust-my-guts L20B in my 200BSSS

Not as fast.

But at about 4k it takes off and spins nicely to where I let up at 6.

Needs an idler arm bush as it does the ol turn left after full lock left right after full lock right but have a spare at home.

The MR30 brakes are real nice, prob need to give em new pads/discs but that can wait.

I've also bought an ex rally engine to go in this baby - Worked A87 Head (Big bore gasket port size (38mm??) and full on port job on the rest, valve guide bosses or whatever they're called, they're almost not there, looks very expensive.) Unknown rally cam - 74 or 76 I was told, Z22 bottom end.

So I need to install that then get a tailshaft to suit. If the stock Z22 fitted then the L headed zed with a single DHLA 45 will fit fine for daily duties.

Oh and I am still gonna turbo this with the suck through setup from earlier in the thread, just have to wait till I get another daily

Thanks for the suggestions guys, it was the timing belt, really should have picked that up, man I really am a noob.

The engine is an interference motor and the head will be kaput

On the bright side the mech who diagnosed it got my RB30 180B going so its no big loss at all

Looking for some general EFI guidance as I know next to nothing about fuel injection.
My gf's car broke down today - x3 excel
Tried my carby based truble shooting to no avail.

Baisically, no blown fuses, when u turn on check engine light is illuminated
Has spark to plugs, nice fat jolt visible w screwdriver in plug
So all I can think is fuel.
Only problem is I dunno what controls fuel.
Does anyone know where fuel is controlled in an excel??

The other problem is that I could be completely wrong about the fuel ting...

Any help???

Cheers, JOn

Wards - Dunno about the rad, I bought it with the conversion done for a song after the previous owner smashed it.

I'll get some more pics to show how the radiator is mounted and some measurements of the available space for coolers.

I plan to bolt a VL kit to this for some cheap turbo love so I need to take some measurements anyway.

The firewall has the lip thing folded down, the trans tunnel has been "massaged" and an area around the shifter area cut out to house the larger R31 gearbox shifter big square mounting thingy

D: This one also has an R200 LSD, adjustable LCA's (shims), Commodore brakes / Verada Disks and is fully engineered,

Lets just say that it certainly makes people with expensive cars scowl.
