No. It's only got the 2 wires. Wasn't the thermo stat either. Just going to get a professional flush on the radiator. If it's not the radiator I'm wondering if its the head which has been shaved 2mm. The higher comp and the hot weather ?

Noope. It's removed. I had an auto electrician check everything over and tidy up a few things. Alternator is charging as it should be. Engine is actually getting hot. Just flushed the radiator and have just removed the thermostat. Will take it for a run soon to see if the thermastat is the culprit.

Hi all.My mitsubishi alternator died a couple of weeks back. I swaped in an internally regulated lucas. When I did this at first the temp gauge started reading hotter than usual. It was running at about half way with the old alternator it started reading at about 3/4 and when the head lights were turned on it was going straight off the clock. I had an auto electrician come and check that the alternator was wired up properly, charging all good. One thing, if you swap in a Lucas 15AC you cant coonect to the charge/dash warning lamp. So wiring checked, still running hot ? Just put in a new water pump and cap, still running hot on the gauge. Doesn't feel like it is too hot tho. I can hold my hand on the cap when the gauge is at 3/4. The gauge isnt moving when the lights come on now either. So short story, does anyone know if a different internally regulated alternator could make the gauge read higher ?? Cheers

How was the draw through set up in terms of drivability and temperment ? Did you run water injection ? Cheers

The 5 speed has a bigger bulge in the extension housing were the 5th gear sits also. Think there are some pics in the tech wiki.

Hi. I'm in West End. My hitachi alternator just died. I put in my internally regulated lucas alternator. Wired it up as it was in the old car. When I did this the dash charge and oil lights died. Then the same night the battery totally drained. The engine bay wiring has been butchered by a previous owner. When you push in the lighter sparks fly under the dash. Just needs a general tidy up and going over. I would like to have everything fixed that needs to be using the better quality plugs, joiners ect. I would also like a regulator and switch wired up for my thermo fan. Would also like all the excess under dash wiring fixed. The previous owner has added an oil pressure gauge and tacho and removed his stereo. So in short generally tidy up and fix alternator issue. Would rather give my cash to a member than some shop payin an apprentice $10 an hour. Cheers.

I bought a locked BW68 off a member in sydney. He had welded in a plate with the correct size locator holes. Tail shaft needs to be shortened a bit too.

Just wondering if there are any auto electricians on here who might be interested in doing some cash work on a weekend in Brissy. Cheers.

Just answer a few questions anyway. I changed the gearbox because the front bearing was cactus. Originally thought this was the through out bearing. Put a new heavy duty exedy clutch kit including the through out and machined flywheel put the old box back same noise. Bought another rebuilt box and spigot bush and rear mount to put in which is what I did last night. I'm no mechanic but I'm pretty meticulous with doing things right but I did miss the mount being the wrong way round at 11pm last night, just rushing to get it back together. All fixed now. One for the record. Put new monroe GT gas struts, ball joints, springs and bushes in a few days ago so its drivin a lot better now. Cheers again.
