Rallytwit, what brand/model tires are you using? I'm not in love with the federal all-seasons i've got now. I'm completely new to tires that are smaller than 16-17's. I've been building 240sx's for too many years i guess.
Right but it would still require fenders to be rolled unless you are stock ride height. I really didn't want to run 205's up front but 185's were on back order and I needed it rolling. even with 185's though the tire come super close to the strut. Under hard cornering it probably would have touched.
I just got my fender flares today so Ill probably do a 20-25mm spacer all the way around and keep the 205's. I kinda dig how meaty they look on this tiny car.
Nope, I'm in Arizona. Don't know of any shops in california personally.
From what i gather the carrera set up is kinda hard to find. I lucked out and got mine and a bunch of other cool vintage 1200 race parts from a guy I bought a '68 roadster 1600 from.
If your in the US a12's are super hard to come by. A14/15 should be easier to source.
*edit. It's a cast iron block, i doubt anything more than a head deck and a new HG should be wrong with it. Pop the head off and take it to a machine shop before you go looking for another motor.
I have my fenders flared to hell in the front but with the spacer my front wheel is 13x6 -16. Make the car fit the wheel. I just used a fender roller till it didn't touch the fender anymore. I dont know about stock suspension but i was coming super close to rubbing the strut with 205's in the front so i added the 10 mil spacer. 185's cleared everything just fine.
420- Wheels are 13x6 -6/-8 Panas tires are Federal 205/60/13 all the way around. I had staggered 185/60-205/60 but my tire guy had to order 185's so in a pinch i went 205's all the way around and just did a 10 mil spacer up front to clear the coilover.
The A12 is built. I guess i could have just cut it up and done something newer but it rips enough for me. I have an RB S13 that is my fast car... this is my fun car.
As for the suspension its not a swap, its an OG Carrera brand weld on kit. This thing turns better than any car I own or have built so far.
