The cheapest I did was a almost complete 81 ute for 50 bucks although no engine or seats, rusty as hell but I got heaps of parts and also sold a bucketload. But the best I did was 2 utes and 2 ute loads of spares, new A14, new A12 turbo, 2 five speeds, 1 GX bonnet ( fiited to my old 2d sedan) one ute I sold for 7 grand and all the other bits were either sold or traded to finance my 2 door. The saddest one is I bought a complete matching numbers sedan had the engine rebuilt, fitted disc brakes this was a dream car. This cost me 500 unregistered had the engine done by a mechanic friend another 500 for that sold it a young for guy for $3500 who totalled the phuking thing, it makes me cry to think about it

My dad used to pick up new datsuns from sydney (capitol motors) and brinf them back to Magna park datsun. Also my stepdad and Uncle sold new 1200's from the same yard. My brothers first car was a brown 4d that was passed onto my sister ( which I later bought) My first datto was a 1200 wagon then had sis's sedan next came a mint 85 ute with 30k's on the clock after that bought and sold a few 1200's and found the holy grail a 2 d sedan unfortunatley sold that due to work, wife and kids I wonder whatever happened to it??

I had the misfortune of doing spare parts for British cars and they were with out doubt the biggest heaps of #### that I have seen. All the cars had prince of darkness electrics, out of date fuel systems ,oil leaks from every part and to top if of proven faulty parts were replaced with the exact same faulty parts. Even the marque of Rolls Royce had just gone from SU carbys to K jectronis fuel injection ( volvo had the same system in the early 70's) Back in 95 Discoverys had a R380 geabox this box was fitted to likes of Dolomites and whatever other crap Leyland pushed out. The best news I got was when the boss ssaid we wont touch Leyland/Rover cars. My dad back in the 70's had a Leyland Beaver prime mover damn thing near sent him broke but the Volvo and the Mercedes gave great service British build quality I dont think so cheers ade

I can prove this but my stepdad sold Datsun 1200"s at Magna Park Datsun in Wollongong. He said to me that all coupes were fully imported from Japan and that the five speed was an option that you could specify at the time of purchase. He also mentioned the coupes were an "upspec model" IE radio, carpet , tacho, headrests ect ect hope this helps ade

Believe me they were cheap back then 350 bucks for a dogleg box. Mind you 350 bucks was a weeks wage in 85 but readily available.

Hi mate good luck with your search, they were an option in Oz and I tried all the avenues back in the 80"s to get one all wreckers Nissan dealers you name it I tried it. I did manage thru pure dumb luck to get one, a guy with a ute had one that was stuffed so I swapped a few bits he needed. I have replaced the workings with a battery operated mechanism. I would ask the OS guys as in oz they are impossible to find cheers ade
