1200 cc engine with rear distributor location. This engine is new. This engine has never been run. The carburetor has a built in governor.
I bought this complete engine from a large scale sewing business where they were using a similar engine to run all their sewing machines. They had bought two spare engines, but in the end never needed them. So I bought both spare engines, put one in my B210, had ideas for the other, but times move on and I no longer need the engine.
I have removed the pushrods to relax the valve springs so all valves are closed. The engine rotates freely.
Engine is located in Dillon MT 59725.
Asking $1200 USD obo. Shipping is your deal, I can transport a short distance.
PM me on this forum. I am working out of town this summer (no internet) so will look for replies when I'm home every few weeks.
I can accept paypal. First person that pays owns it.

These pistons are from a 4 speed B210. I always thought the ABC stamping was the factory sizing pistons to micro size adjustments when fitting pistons to each individual cylinder. Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw this coding all the time when doing engine rebuilds as a Datsun mechanic in the 1970's.

Good used A14 pistons from a 1976 B210. One piston has damage from dropped valve...previous owner. These are original factory pistons with the A B C sizing code stamped in the top recess.
The pins pressed out of the rods cleanly with no damage to the pistons or pins. All pins rotate freely in their piston. No obvious galling of pin bores or pins. But they are used parts so that is what they are.

I've seen people asking for these in the past, so here they are.

Not sure what price to ask for these. They are in good condition and hard to find.

Body has little to no rust, some dents. Body is in very good overall condition. Car is from Oregon, south of Portland. Engine ran when I bought the car, but needs carb kit, battery, and probably other small details. I bought the car for possible restoration, but we are moving and the car has to go.

Car is in Bozeman Montana. Asking $500.
Car would have to be trailered.
PM me on this forum. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I did not mean to be confusing...I had set the carb idle air/fuel ratio, but have not checked the cruise A/F ratio. The choke was open for sure, I cheated on the tire pressure with 46/42 psi front/rear. Tires had not been aligned yet, they were toed out a little, but another snow storm was coming and I wanted to get the run in before the roads turned icy. At 60 mph the engine was turning at 2780 rpm according to internet calculators (22 inch diam tire, 3.7 axle ratio, 5th gear ratio is 0.82).
I'm in Bozeman, drove over Bozeman Pass to Big Timber and back using the highway markers to verify distances.
Ignition timing set at 10 degrees advanced with factory electronic ignition advance curve.

I noticed the mpg carburetor has a smaller primary throttle bore than "normal" A14 carb. My other Datsun, a 1976 B210 Coupe with A12 engine and 3.89 axle gears has a little quicker acceleration and higher cruise speed (85 vs 75 mph)at maximum throttle opening on the primary bore only. The A12 has 10:1 compression also.
I was a factory trained Datsun mechanic back in the late 70's, its fun messing around with the Datsuns again..they are a great little car:)

Been building a 210, two door, A14 engine, 5 speed for several years, slowly gathering parts. Converted the car from a 4 speed to 5 speed. Added a round port high compression cylinder head, decked the block and milled the head for 10:1 compression ratio. Also added a new in box mpg Hitachi carburetor, but have not adjusted the air fuel ratio. Kept the A14 dual pattern camshaft.
Finally have the car running. Have 300 miles on the car so ran a fuel economy run, but only got 44 mile per gallon.
Specs of the run are:
126 mile round trip.
air temp 23 degrees F (-5 celcius).
max elevation change: 1560 feet.
wind was 20-29 mph from various directions.
rear axle ratio: stock 3.7:1, could not find used pumkin with 3.5 mpg ratio.
Tire size 175/70 R13, about 22 inches diameter.

I'll tune some more and wait for warmer weather and not so much wind, then try again.

Question: did the mpg engines have a dual or single pattern camshaft?
I meant to put this post in the B210 section.

Trany is stock 4 speed for 1976 A14. Has the taller first gear ratio. Rear axle is also stock 1976, my FSM says ratio is 3.889:1.
Tire size is 175-70 R13, with 21.5 inch diameter measured from pavement to top of tire. I have a 5 speed trany, but with the heavy car, the engine seems to be doing plenty just to pull the car around.
Just last week bought a 1979 210 with an unbelievable body, I'm talking no rust anywhere. Found it on the high-line northern border of Montana, estate sale, car has sat in a barn full of tractors since 2002. I'll be rebuilding the A14 and installing the 5 speed in the 210. Found a NEW in the box A14 carb with jetting for A14 federal/Canada on ebay a couple weeks ago.

Have about 1500 miles on the "new" B210 coupe. The mileage course I'm running is 126 mile round trip measured on state highway markers; the speedo reads 132 miles for same distance.
Elevation change is 1700 vertical feet. I drove on no-wind days with air temp between 70-80 degrees F. The first run (in June of this year)I drove 63 mile per hour and averaged 46 mile per US gallon, the second run (today) I slowed down to 57 mph and averaged 49 mile per US gallon. For fuel economy calculations the distance driven was state highway markers.
I drove VERY carefully, gently speeding up or slowing down.
Trany and rear axle are 1976 stock parts that came with the car. Ignition is stock point type, no change to advance curve.
Engine is A12 with compression increased to 10:1 by decking block and milling head. Stock US type pistons with center recess are being used. Wish I had true flat top pistons. Cylinder head is round port MPG type head. I blocked off the water ports to intake manifold, using a 1972 A12 intake manifold. Intake manifold and cylinder head runners are roughened to 60 grit finish using sanding rolls. Intake and exhaust port runners had sharp edges removed, short turns were widened 0.05 inch each side of port for total of 0.10 width increase to help flow turn sharp short turn corners. Exhuast ports were polished. Also enlarged int/exh bowls below valve seats. All valves were back cut with 30 degree angle cut about 0.05 width. Carb is stock A12 small venturis with 1973 OEM jetting. Stock air cleaner, Datsun air filter, and A14 exhaust manifold with stock exhaust system.
The engine was running a little on the warm side, so I installed the larger A/C type radiator, but have not found a shroud to fit. May have to scratch build one.
I'm rebuilding a 1980 Datsun electronic ignition that I'll install this winter. So far so good.

Have A12 engine. Upped compression to 10:1, now runs 3/4 the way up the temp gauge.
The radiator core tubes look clean, and has new antifreeze. My choices are 1) have radiator cleaned, and 2) put A/C water pump and clutch fan on it.
Any ideas??

You've got a good car there. I had a B310 with A14 & 5 speed. About 38 mpg at 80 mph with everything stock. Drove it 285,000 miles. Was still running good when I sold it.
I'll say the more stock you keep it the less trouble you will have. Could put in A15 engine. Would bolt right in. I have a 1989 Nissan Sentra with 1600cc, throttle body fuel injection and 5 speed. Is overhead cam with 3 valves per cylinder (2 intake, one exh). Very quick car, would run circles around any stock "A" series pushrod engine. Has 287,000 miles on it and got 50 mpg on a 600 mile trip a couple weeks ago. Might take some converting to get engine block to match up to older Datsun 5 speed. Would be a quick car and good mpg too.
