My little bro had a 720 Kingcab with a flash sound system installed so it might still be floating about in the garage, will let you know if I find it...

Yeah I had this problem on my old 1200, basically what we ended out doing was to drill the sender out and putting a new one in, as far as I could see there was no alternative to getting it out...

I understand that, an auto electrician suggested the idea...perhaps wanted to get himself some extra work!
I think I'll pull the alternator tonight
Cheers

Recently my Bluebird SSS has picked up an electrical problem.
Basically every 3 weeks to a month the battery runs flat, it needs to be taken out of the car and charged, driving big distances will not recharge it.
If I remove the battery at idle the car continues to run until I place it under load ie turn the lights on.
The charge light has never come on.
This problem in itself is no biggie and has been happening for about 3 months.
Yesterday while the car was idling (in drive through....)the rev counter started going haywire (no actual revving occuring tho) and then the car just died. It started up again fine (with a jump starter) but when the car is idling every once in a while the stereo just cuts out.
Any help at all would be great
Cheers Will

At idle (800 rpm) it's producing 13.4 volts, higher revs gets it up to close to 14, hence im not sure what it is, my brother had a faulty fuse box which had similar symptoms in his 720 ute. There's just so much wiring in the car that I'm not sure where to start and I'm against paying someone else!

Woohoo fixed, mechanical problems are so much easier than electrical ones, somewhere in the electrics of the bluebird lies something that drains the battery faster than the alternator can charge it (it goes flat about 1000km/3 weeks after a full charge) ... the alternator has been tested and is fine As great as fuel injection and all the other electric goodies are I kinda like knowing what every piece of wiring does...

Ok cheers guys, well yeah I clicked and rang the Nissan dealer here, very easy...however I'm stuggling actually getting the cover off on the rear of the disc (on the rear wheels), so that I can fit my shiny new ones, I'm a little scared of undoing something that I can't do back up, stripping two threads on one wheel has given me a new sense of paranoia...

If it's a Jappa more than likely will be 4x100 or 4x114 or if an RX? 4x108, measure from the centre of the stud to the centre of the stud on the diagonally opposite corner...
