Okay so i have made up a table that compares sr to ca.
I've been thinking lately about getting a CA and boring it out to 2L if i can and use SR20 piston tops and CA18det rods and crank.
Is there enough sidewall in the piston chambers to allow this much boring?

CA18DET Specifications SR20DET Specifications

DOHC 4cyl. 16val. 1.8L Turbo(T25) DOHC 4cyl. 16val. 2.0L Turbo(T25)

HP: 173hp@6400rpm HP: 205hp@6000rpm

Torque: 166lbs@4000rpm Torque: 203ft/lbs@4000rpm

Displacement: 1809cc Displacement: 1998cc

Compression Ratio: 8.5:1 compression ratio: 8.5:1

Bore: 83mm Bore: 86mm

Stroke: 83.6mm Stroke: 86mm

So there you go, let me know what you think, it'd great if i could get away with it, that way i have a fully engineered 2L CA18DET.
Thanks Ty

i think a few drifter have done the 2L convershion or i could be think about the sr20det 2.2L kit hmmmm
any way hears some extra specs there s15 but could help you get even more power http://nissans15.com/spec.htm
but why not just go for a sr20det ? more and more are poping up fully rego'd/mod plated

All that mucking around for 30hp and 40ft/lbs...
Just stick some more boost up it's ass and you'll still have a fully engineered car with the same power.
Boring too far will cause heating issues.
Most / If not all aftermarket piston suppliers for CA18det only sell +.5mm and +1.0mm, maybe for a reason.
That's my 2cents...
But it's good to think outside the square - It dosn't matter what people say... It's up to you if your keen.

the CA20E has 84.5mm bore & 88mm stroke, so I'd presume that boring out the CA18 3mm is probably stretching it a bit too far.

you would probably be better off doing like pigdog and useing a ca18de and turboing it, would be far more friendly off boost and with the higher cr than turbo, you may have lees boost but could end up with more power.

By doing this with a ca18det block you would then get the benefit of the oil squirters onto the underside of the pistons too.

The biggest issue with all these high power 1200's is traction. No point with all that power if it cant get to the ground.
