Dad used to work for Nissan
Owned 3 car yards in Melbourne
Mums first car was a 1000 wagon back in 75 when she got her licence and when we moved to perth in 77 she got another. This turned out to be my first car for the sum of $1 when I got my licence.
So we've always had Dattos in the household as Dad always had a company car.
I've always loved them for their simplicity, cheapness and reliability. And they can go hard too.
My first drive was in an old Patrol and even sat in Ross Dunkertons old Z rally car when I was but a wee lad.

Currently I have the 3 1000's. My younger brother has 2 1000's and a bluebird TRX. My older brother has a N13 SSS Pulsar. Mum has a N12 Pulsar and dad still has at least 1 old patrol and a later Y60 too. I guess its in the blood.

Hello

I get infected with the so called "DATSUN bug" when I was 14 years old (I am 26 years old by now). My mother used to own a DATSUN 1000. Currently I own two B310 (Blue-1982 and Brown-1981) and a 1989 200SX S13. I bought the S13 two month ago, because I love the car and I got it in great condition and at a fantastic price. The main pourpose of the S13 is to give some relief to the blue B310, because it was making something like 21000-25000 Km per year.

The other B310 (Brown I think, I don't remember the color) is complete and runing, but it is used mainly as "part pool" for the Blue B310.

i got the datto bug by being taken for a ride in an old workmates 200hp na datsun 1600. it had a worked l18 and twin webbers and we did 200kmh up nicholson street when the throtle cable stuck wide open and the motor came on the cam at 4000rpm.
One wild ride and i loved it. he then proceded to flinders street for some circle work in front of the trade center. i can still smel the ruber and feel the mushiness in my pants.

Well, for my 17th birthday, my dad bought me a brown B310 sedan. It had an A12A/4spd. Although it was slow, it would go anywhere. We took it off-road lots of times. Having seen just how durable Datsuns are, I was hooked.

I always thought 1600's looked tough so I got one to build up. While I was doing this I noticed there was an even cooler datto...the 1200. So I got one of them too.

And its been nothin but ever since

edit: except for the crashes....but thats not the datto's fault

I remember when I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's watching the Taylor boy's scream around Amaroo Dirt Circuit (another famous circuit sold for housing) in Dato 1200's and thought wow.
Then in 1987 my brother and I saw and advert in a motorsport magazine..
'Datsun 1200 Rally Car A15 Twin Webers, Galant Front End, Galant Diff bla bla bla $3,800ono.
We took it for a drive and thought we have to have this.
Won many rallysprints and motorkhanas..then turned it into a circuit car and won many state titles and on the way found out it was the winning Factory Datsun 1200 driven by Bill Evans from the 70's.
That cars now sits in the shed and waits restoration.
I love them.
