does anybody know of a diff ratio between a 3.7 and a 3.45 that will fit in a 1600 escort housing? maybe a 3.55? and from what car can i salvage it!

I'm pretty sure my old escort had a 3.54 out of a 2litre. Hang on let me check the book.

Yep according to gregories the 1600 had a 3.77 and the 2000 had a 3.54. Also the 4.1-4.4 from a mk1 cortina will fit but the tailshaft flange is smaller.

but can you tell me exactly what 2L escort? rs2000 perhaps? i don't know if the escort you are talking about was released in south africa! maybe you know where i can find a crown weel and pinion from somewhere overseas!

The diffs are from the mk2 Escorts(same model rs2000 had same ratio), I think they ran from about 75 or 76 thru to about 81 in oz. As for cw&p don't know but eskys were made in large number and they rust about as quick as they use fuel so they should be plentiful in every wrecking yard.
