I think Korea is different they even specialized for the small Aussie market with a hot turbo taxidoor sedan
to make up for the closure of whoreden and fraud for their commonhoe and now legendary Barra failcon :)
The market sees SUV, People movers, hatches and 86/miata coupes
They seem to be the best sellers in worldwide with jpn yearly
increased in kei cars sales specially mini vans & taller mini SUV
as the price of fuel is too high vs US and other parts of Asia.
The skateboard design is pretty old but in reality is just a chassis
there is no doubt every car maker is heading this way as unitary
chassis was a temp solution for reducing metal usage and stopping
developing countries and developed countries competing new players
to come in and monopolizing production.
Personally not ever buying an EV will even build a Flying Feather
for my nomadic commuting to my sporting venues run by that flat head
860cc or even an FJ1200 like in Legends racing as go karts are
allowed here as are quads on the road. I will make it a little longer
wheelbase and use thin copper panels brazed all over the place as
I prefer it over welding these days.
Imagine those older days of trying to charge an EV and not electrocuting
yourself or having no brakes just relying on no one to get in the way.
