1200 ute boss kit

does anyone know how hard it is too find a ausralian boss kit for a 1200 ute, to put a
smalller steering wheel on?

i havent really looked around yet, easy to pick up from local parts dealer?

My experience with this is that the 1200 spline is different to all the other Datsun/Nissans of the age. Which makes getting a boss quite difficult. I'm thinking of machining out
the centre of an old 1200 wheel to use and make a custom boss. I think we'd all be interested if you find anything different.

If you guys get stuck Griffiths Equipment in NZ still make boss kits for 1200s. I can dig some up for you if you have no
luck in Oz.

Just head to your local auto accessories store eg. Revolution Racegear, Autobarn, AutoOne etc etc.
Mine set me back about $80 Aussie dollars (might find it cheaper). Just make sure you order the correct one, by clearly stating the
MAKE/MODEL/YEAR etc.

When I bought my ute the first thing I had to get rid off was the bus steering wheel, so I drove down to saas and they sold a boss kit for $40. Again a lot of accessory shops
will tell you that they don't make one for the 1200 but saas definetly do...

Dimlight's solution (which will eventually be mine too) is to go to a race shop and buy a quick-release hub. Here in the US they around $25-50. The spline part welds onto your
1200 steering column, then the top half of the release bolts to any three bolt mount wheel. Also makes it alot easier to get in and out of a lowered Coupe when there's no wheel
in the way.

Once again, tens and twenties has beaten me to the answer. But only half of what I was going to say. I was also going to point out that the B-210 steering shaft is the same, at least
here in the states. Grant lists the same part number for both cars and that is what I have in Gil and George. But the best part of the other solution (quick release racecar style) is the
look on the face of the kid at the gas station when you plop your wheel on the counter while paying for fuel! Worth the price of the QR right there.

I use quick release steering wheels in my race cars but make sure your local laws alow them for street use and I also suggest that you drill and pin the steering shaft in addition
to welding it

Yes, pinning is a really good idea. When I first put the Quick release on the Chickenhawk, I got the bright idea to just weld the nut that holds the wheel to the boss and
then just thread the thing on. Well, I think you can all see where this is going, it worked fine for right hand turns but lefts were another matter. I welded it to the shaft
after that.
