i know from the rego papers, it says that 1200 utes actually way 690kg, but from a local chassis builder i have been told they are more in the vicinity of 900kg.
can anyone please let me know, as this will effect the engine chioce, either ca or sr. i know the sr is not legal if it actually weighs 690kg, but if it is anywhere over 800kg, sr20det here i come .
thanks ISL33P

i think ull find that the rules go by the weight listed from the factory, and the maximum allowed engine capacity is worked on the sedan bodied version, so the weight is actually 740kg. ive researched all this from the rta website, light vehicle modification document.

yeh, i have that booklet here at home, but if i can prove that the car actually weighs more, there will be plenty of advantages of using the sr, mainly hp though.

In NSW the weight is based on the GL 4 door sedan version of the vehicle model. This is why the Sedan "is" the benchmark Chris ps. kegs got it..he da man.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the factory weight is "dry" & the weighbridge weight is usually dripping wet. The factory weighs the "car" Then they add optional extras like spare tyre, oil & fuel. Surprisingly, this actually adds to the weight. I don't know about the coolant though, but if it doesn't break any rules, then i guess that they would leave that out too. Kegs Is your avitar a video of you losing your virginity?

but you can not tell me all the fluids in the car, engine oil, coolant, gearbox oil, diff oil, and even wiper water and petrol will weigh any more than 100 kg, when they are all full ???

RTA weight isn't anything to do with dry/wet weight It's a bizarre formula held secret, not unlike Colonel Sanders recipe containing 11 herbs and spices. ..yes it's beer night again Chris ps: Funny KFC link..

ISL33P You would be right there, but do you know how the chassis builder got his figure? In the end, only a certified weighbridge ticket would hold the awfull truth. Kegs Bummer about the bounce, but never mind, the rumor that i'm spreading is far more interesting. I gotta stop looking at it, i'm feeling ill.
