I am using the std "Oldsckool" points ignition in conjunction with an aftrmarker EFI system that can do Fuel and ignition.
this particular EFI can be triggered ether by Hall, Magnetic, or CCT-breaking.... (IE. points). and it is working well for me. I guess the only down side to using points is when the engine gets to those screeming 8.5K Rpm ranges and above... it might get bounced. The points, in my case only gives the ECU a trigger pulse and from there, timing is calculated by the ECU and then passed to a TP100 ignitor, which is responsable for the hard work. the points will theoretically last for ever..

While the contact faces will not burn in the same way as before due to the lower current flow, points will still need periodic gap adjustment, followed by a timing check to ensure that the computer really does see a true TDC. This is the real acvantage of electronic ignition in this application.

people commonly use modified Bluebird SII electronic dissies to provide the signal to an aftermarket ECU. people are already using these dissies on their A series, so it shouldn't pose too many problems.

Yeah thats right Harry I use a modified S2 bluey (hall effect dizzy) on my Aseries, they are a good bosch unit. Heaps of spark too.

for mine i used a stock a-series electronic dizzy, i welded up the mechanical advance and disconnected the vacuum advance also, then because i was using a camira computer i put the dizzy module off the camira onto the a-series dizzy (just cut the wires off the old one and connected the wires to the camira one)
works beautifully of course thats what that computer was looking for though (the dizzy module not a crank sensor)

RC Ive heard the Delco Camira ECU is actually programmable. This bit of news came from Jeff Taylor. However I dont know how to reprogram them. Anyone out there with that knowledge?

I believe you have to have your delco chipped for on the fly tuning. And the software is very expensive for DIY people. Another option is megasquirt. A DIY ecu with free software and really great support :) That 12 second 1200 in finland was running it. And i dare say its got the features and power of some of the more expensive ecus.

you can buy all the stuff and tune it yourself, or a limited number of workshops have the gear to do it.
i get mine done at a workshop

so in syaing all that, does anyone think its possible to just use my electronic dizzy off an import a15 to drive the ignition side of the computer and then drive coils or something from there?
