EFI - Turboing A Series

Hey all I got pointed to this list by the ozdat list... I'm interested in converting my A series engine into a turbo version, I've read thu part of the messages and it seems
that there were EFI manifolds avalable. Does anyone know where I can find one and how much they usually go for? BTW I'm in Melbourne Australia!

OH yeah, while I remember I also have a (N12?) Exa which I can kinda get parts very cheap.. I understand that the E15 block and A series block are the same. So would it be an
advantage to put the E15 pistons in my A12? I'm thinking a Suck-tru turbo beacuase I also have some SU's. What do you guys reakon?

Rich, the one I have seen supposedly came from a Singaporean n10 pulsar. They are the very first ones as we had here and they had the a14 motor. I have a friend that has set one up and has
a second manifold/injectors etc that he is going to give me so i don't know what they are worth. He had a friend who was importing a bunch of stuff and he sourced them for him. You may
have to approach an impoorter to chase it specifically as I would doubt anyone would bring in anything for these motors.
Where did you hear about the e15 blocks being the same as i would be very keen to look at using one in another application if you could get around the distributor sticking so far out the
back.

I can't remember where I heard about the blocks being the same, I think it was a mechanic (so it could be wrong) He reakons Datsun bought the molds from Morris (in UK), then bored
it out. He said something about using the same block in N12 Pulsars. So I was thinking maybe pistons out of an E15, into a Bored out A12, and maybe the turbo too! =)

Anyone from New Zealand? I know manifolds are easier to come by over there, anyone know of any A14 EFI manifolds?

Can you tell me a little more about the E-15 engine? I don't know anything about them. What did they come in? Are they overhead cam? I get the impression that there was a
turbo version from some of the comments, was there? Any info will be appreciated.

The E15 engine came in N12 Pulsars (83-86) and Turbo Versions Came in ET
pulsars and Early Exa's

Thanks, that site gave me some leads. Now, has anyone here tried the turbo manifold on an A series engine? Is that manifold readily available? What kind of longevity do they
have, are they prone to cracking?

I have had a look at the Turbo manifold, the exhaust is not the same, I'll probably be fabricating my turbo manifold, by cutting and welding it onto the existing exhaust manifold.
I'll put up some pictures, and let you guys know how I go.
BTW This car is my second car so I wont be spending too much money on it I'm trying to limit my spending to $AUS1000.... hehe

Don't forget the first Aussie Pulsars had the a14.
I have all the spec sheets for ACL pistons copied out of Repco's parts lists lent to me by a friend. Some details are:
A12 A14 A15 E15
Bore 73mm 76mm 76mm 76mm
Comp Height 32.40 No 30.00 32.50
Pin Dia 17.45 Specs 19.00 19.00
As you can see the only hassle with the E15 piston is that the pin might be too big. You would have to look whether there is enough meat in the little end of the A12 rods. The picture of
the piston design gives the impression that the E15 has a much larger dish which would lower compression but of course with a turbo that would be fine. I don't know why there is no
listing for the A14 pistons but that is what is supposed to be in my spare 1200 motor so I don't know what the pin size is.

They came out in the Pulsars and are of course FWD. They are compact looking motor with cross flow head and belt drive overhead cam and there was a turbo version. I have had a bit of
a look at one as I was hoping that the same gearbox was used in the Pulsar for both motors (first came with a14). I don't know about that yet but there is not really any straight
forward engine mounting lugs that I can see for RWD fitment and the distributor and water outlet poke a long way out back of the head.
