Has any one converted their clutch over to Hydraulic?

i nearly did to put in the overdrive 5 speed i've got.

i measured it all up ready to go in but then i had the acco.

just get hold of a hydraulice clutch box, unless you've got one waiting, and then grab a master cylinder off something like 1600 (510) and work out how long the travel has to be
with the piston in it.
then work out that travel on your clutch pedal, to where it has to be located on the firewall, the ndrill and insert.

run all your pipes etc and your away.

by the way i've still got the overdrive 5 speed here if anyone wants to buy it......

All of the CA18DE/T boys have. Mine uses an AE86 Sprinter/Levin/Corolla
GTS clutch master.

I had to modify the pedal box a fair bit, but it fits in nicely next to
the booster.

i honestly couldnt tell ya what revs it pulls in 5th but she's a genuine overdrive gearbox so 5th gear is 0.875:1. she's gotta be a shit load better than
the old 4 speeds.

This is a bit confusing? Just about every Datsun ever sold in the USA (including the 1200) has a hydraulic clutch. What on earth did they give you guys down under? Cable? Z-
bar? To answer the question, a hydraulic clutch would be a piece of cake if you got a few choice parts from a hydraulic (USA?) 1200.

Do the transmissions in your Australian 1200s and Y120s have the machined area that accepts the hydraulic slave cylinder?

If not, most any hydraulic clutch could be made to fit with a bit of ingenuity. I like the feel of a hydraulic cluch. It works much smoother than cable and especially better than
mechanical reach rods.

Mt friend, Trigg, and I were at a stop sign in his 240Z when he just lurched out in front of a car coming from my direction. He slammed the brakes and killed the motor. We almost got hit
by a car coming towards his side. Luckily everyone got stopped before any damage was done. I asked Trigg why he pulled out in front of the busy cross-traffic. He still had his foot on
the clutch pedal and it was still to the floor. The slave cylinder had ruptured a seal. Luckily, the Datsun dealer was close by and we repaired it on the street. That was in 1981.
