i have been doing abit of research they both are good but it will really only be used for the track and show and was thinking 12a cause not many out apart from the ca. And either way i go both options will be fully worked so will have to compare the cost of each one....
To much to think about lol

Rotarys are alot more reliable now then they were 5-10 years ago. Alot of r&d over the years has made a hell of a difference. I know of quite a few 8 sec cars that havnt had a rebuild in over 3 years!

If you intend to legally drive it on the road go the ca, if not go the rotor. And if that's the case go a 13b instead, heaps more parts available and alot cheaper. Also make a little more power and areore reliable as they are a newer design

Most of the 1200's you see that are registered with them probably have been for years, most probably engineered when the old rules still applied. You won't find an engineer that will pass a 1200 fitted with a boosted rotor.. Hell it's even illegal to have a turbo rotor in a rx3 but they are everywhere!... Go figure.

As cemax said, rotor kills everything bang for buck, could easily run a 10 sec et for well under $10k

Rotary is the cheapest race engine you can buy for mild to mid high hp
If you ask the question of which makes more power overall then you are
considering drag racing? A very hard question when considering reliability.
Most people with a ca eventually go to an sr20det but few are now building
very serious CA engines for drift and drag.

A 760+hp ca18det has been dynoed by Yatala as a reliable race drag
car but the worlds fastest 12a runs 8.27 @ 160 mph and needs alot
of expensive things also and constant rebuilds.
Up to 400-500hp the rotary is king after that its hard to tell.
You must consider Mazda has doubled its parts prices not long ago
so it gets more expensive to rebuild most rotaries.
Its a close call as most ca18det need rebuilds anyway.
Someone like Pigdog is building a 300hp ca18det and would compare
to a 300hp rotary in price but over that hp things lean towards
the 12a engine and then after 600hp back to the CA18 perhaps.

if you wait a tad the all alloy 16x big boy might be out soon :)
will be 20kg lighter than a Renesis

If you dont care for weight or capacity or engineering you can
also consider a KA20DET using the Jap KA20DE block and 24DE head.
Theres also someone in the states doing up a QR20DET using a QR25de
block and head with sr20det crank aiming for 800+hp.
