Well, my Chickenhawk is pretty fast. Z-20 with a cam and 38mm downdraft Weber. I built the custom header for it myself and when the engine hits the right revs, around 3500, she just hunkers down and scoots.
My more civilized 1200, Gil, which has an A-14, cam, single sidedraft and header moves along pretty well too. His problem is the gears are too short for the highway. The guy I got it from says it has 4.11 gears and from the sound on the freeway, I believe him.
Hopefully, I will have the turbocharged A-12 powered car going soon. That should be on the quick side.
Of course there is Mom's 1200 that I'm going to put a CA-20 automatic in. If I can find one.
Finally, there is Herman. Herman will not be fast. Nor will he be quick. He won't even be pretty. Herman is going to be a 1200 unibody on top of a 1962 Nissan Patrol frame. A monster truck 1200 if you will. You can see the frame on my website if you wish. I'll post more pictures as things develop.
Have a day.
Tim

I think my racecar qualifies as a fast 1200. With a fuel injected peripheral port 12A I ran 136mph in a standing 400 metre sprint a few years back. Now thats it's even lighter and more powerful it should be even quicker.A few years back I took it to a drag strip and got 1 run before the meatheads running the show told me to piss off with my rotary chook cooker and don't come back!!! I'm happy to say that attitudes to rotangs has changed since then.

my car is not fast relative to the others. I still have an A12. With the new addition of duel SU's and a GX head, it should be faster than before, which still wont be that fast. I just want to be able to cruse at 85-90mph, for 4-5 hours, (to LA or shasta) in the middle of summer, without overheating and with no problems. Oh, and get 30mpg, too.
This car must not only earn my trust ,which is easy, but it must also earn my wife's trust.
For some unknown reason, it only breaks down when she is in it.

Great, now you have me worrying about putting mom in one. She wouldn't drive it very far or in bad weather. I guess as long as it has a cigarette lighter for her phone, she can call me for a rescue. How is the reliability of Nissan automatic transmissions?
