are there any other reverse sensors that can be used in a 1200? maybe one thats not so long? (the external bit that is externally.)

I think the "top gear" switch fitted to some 60 4 speeds is the same as the FS5W60L reverse switch-- that is its plunger is longer than the FS5W60A reverse switch

I tried to hunt down a shorter switch that didnt hit the tunnel but failed

One possibility is to drill/tap a small switch into the back of the extension housing ie switch facing backwards instead of sticking out the side

I have this if it helps , it's from a cd I was given nissan put all the microfiche to cd , it contains exploded views of everything, old and new part num ect..

forward switch is spade connectors with yellow wires
rearward switch is bullet connectors with black wires
Both have a 7mm long nubbin
And are 13.5mm outside diameter of the threads
