If they are legal width and have enough tread you are pretty safe.

If the tyres don't match the original front/rear wheel track (or engineered wheel track), then they might give you an unroadworthy sticker for that.

But when they see "burnout tyres", they do get sus, and may pull you over for a "random roadworthy check". I'd make sure the rest of the car is all legal.

Put yourself in the cops shoes. Doing burnouts is a fairly serious offence (unfortunately), and they need to be seen to be doing their job.

burnouts are bad, me mate wrote his car of on friday night doin some circle work, stupid kid. Hit a traffic island and screwed the back diff up and all so the back wheels are squeeshed up 2 oneside. Then tried 2 regain it and tipped of the edge into a drain and just ripped everythin of under the bottom, Smashed the sump, radiator, exhaust, all steering stuff and crunched up the whole end panels.Had it for sale for 4 grand now hes only gettin $800.the moral from this story is thank god it wasnt a dato, only a commodore

Your allowed to have em, but the thing is, if the cops do pull you over and they do check, even if they didnt see you doing any burnouts but they can see excessive amounts of rubber under your guards(which will happen if you do a deascent skid) then they can book you for it. Also the size of the rims on the back have to be the same size as the ones on the front, which will make it defective! There you go....

yeah, smoking in industrial areas it fun!

just think about it... if you were buying a car and it had mags on the front and stockies on the rear, would you think the owner had been thrashing it?
