I need to know if they make an after market heater tap for a 1200 ute (1980 model), or if u have to buy genuine Nissan Datsun Heater taps. Does anyone have a spare one around penrith area and how much will it take for u to part with it! if u can help that would be great.

What's a heater tap?

The 1200's hoses are standard 1/2 inch inside diameter, so any aftermarket fittings will fit them.

where the heater hose connects to on/off tap on side of heater box inside car. Heater cable connects to this to turn heater on/off. Mine is leaking out of the tap where the small chrome pin goes into the control.

Dont let this little problem stop you from driving your mighty 1200. Just go to the hardware shop and buy a suitable plastic elbow that they use for irrigation systems. Plumb it into the lines and away you go. You can then drive your 1200 without any problems except the heater will be on all the time. Then you can cruise around and get the right valve at you leisure.

i actually havent tried looking for one, but im sure a lot of datto models would have used the same part. 1200's in wrecking yards are scarce, pull yours out and go to a big wrecker like pick'n'payless and look at all the nissan/datsun (try 4cyl first) heating systems, if you still have no luck try looking on other makes, im sure you could modify something to fit or you might get lucky and find that manufaturers used a common part on heating systems (anyone confirm), If worst comes to worst, my girl goes to South Africa in a month and i may be able to convince her to stop by a nissan dealership as i need one too.

Let me know hay

Good Luck
