I spent the weekend putting in one of my 120Y struts (spent a lot of time cleaning and painting the control arms etc). I was hoping I'd have the same clearance as I did on my previous ute, which used Stanza struts, as the lower control arms are exactly the same length, but when I tried to bolt on a Bluebird TRX rim with 195/60/15 tyre
it fouled big time on the lower spring perch.
I plan running 185/55/15's on the front, but wanted to know if anyone else was using 120Y struts with TRX rims and whether they had to run spacers??
P.S. I'm using 120Y in preference to Stanza as I have adaptors for them to bolt on Silvia S13 calipers.

yeah mate i run 120Y struts with trx wheels. you are correct they do scrub on the lower spring perch and you can fix this with 8-10mm spacer. but if you are using Kev Rowleys S13 brake upgrade then once thats on the disc will space the wheel out the desired amount.

Yeah I am using Kev's brackets. Thanks for that, I forgot about the thickness of the rotor, as in my rush to slap on the TRX wheel I didn't even sit the rotor on. I fitted the longer R31 wheel studs too so should have a bit of room for a spacer as well if needed. Thats relieves my concerns..cheers

Do R31 wheel studs fit in place of the original 1200/12y/sunny studs? If so, how much longer are they? This sounds like the perfect solution to a problem I have been trying to solve. I need to use a 5 to 10 mm spacer on front wheels and the (mag) wheel nuts only have about 5 threads purcgase before the spacers are added.

im pretty sure r31 studs fit and are longer,
im using silvia studs and they're longer and fit prefect with the SR20 silvia rotors.

Yeah the R31 studs just knock in exactly the same as the 1200/120y originals. I'll try to measure the length tonight when I get home from work. I've probably got the nissan part number too. I'll let you know.

Hey Denuto, I measured the standard 1200 studs and the R31 studs and the R31's are 10mm longer. 1200 stud from end to end is 35mm and the R31 is 45mm. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Nissan part number is NI-43222-91POO

DAT51K, When you say they rub is this on the strut tower, the guard or on the floor.

I ran stanza struts and TRX's on my previous ute and they rubbed on the floor/firewall a fraction if you hit a bump on full lock, but never had a hassle in normal driving. I'm hoping the 120Y setup will be the same.

Thanks for your comments!
