It was glued on by the factory. Use a seam sealer to repair it is the 'correct' way.

I wonder if a modern 2-part body epoxy would work?

Will the epoxy u mention a bit hard for the hood??
It will dent the hood if it is too hard, right??

Use a seam sealer or panel adhesive... Check out upol website... U can get adhesives that set off in a few minutes or up to 60mins... Don't use a 2pack epoxy resin it wont fill the gap between the panels

I used this Evercoat product but I wondered if one could get away with a standard urethane product like Sikaflex. The Maxim is a 2 part epoxy & paints just fine but its hard to get. The advantage of this over the 3M seam sealer was the tube, its a single cartridge to fit a standard caulking gun. The others (3M sausage tubes & other 2 part epoxy's) require special guns. It cures to a very solid state unlike conventional urethane which tends to stay flexible throughout its life.

Dundee & srb210 - have both of you guys used single part urethane for that purpose before with success?

used it many times, awesome stuff.. used it to brace panels, stops drumming, (ie tin over a steel frame)
