Do you mean the nub at the end of this?

This little guy right here, see the crack? It is cracked halfway through and it dont let it turn the ignition all the way.

It literally has a dogbone shape.
I don't recall seeing this. Does it go in the key cylinder?

You might be able to get it brazed. I don't think you can buy that part separately as a new part.

Yeah it is basically the extension from the lock cylinder to the ignition module with the wire plug on the back. It makes up the distance the key don't have. I was going to solder it to see what happens. It is very small though and probably not enough surface area to make it strong enough.

Solder is weak. Brazing will be stronger than original, or welding.

A new cylinder is $40. But probably any 1970s Datsun will have the same part -- so maybe check the wreckers?

How good are you with a hacksaw & file? The original material is pretty weak & you could always make another one with some steel. You can use the old one for a template, cut the basic shape out with a hacksaw, then file to the needed shape. You probably don't have to put the reduction in width, which would make it stronger.
I've had this part break during a supersprint. fortunately it was when my co-entrant was trying to start the engine, rather than with the engine running, as you couldn't have turned the engine off. We had to cable tie a screw driver into the switch on the back so we could keep racing. We were mainly worried about retaining the screwdriver if we needed to turn the engine off, or we'd have just put it in loosely. I've since replaced the ingition switch with another one. All Nissan's from that era use the same ignition switch.
