Your words are good advice

yeah i agree fm, but this is not a SERIOUS engine, its just a bit of mucking around really, the turbos are cheap but too small so its easy enough to just use 2 of em

it may turnout to be serious but in the end im just foolin round till i have enough cash flow for the CA18DET conversion

so yeah, im at uni at the moment and just trying to do it on the cheap, therefore hoping not to rebuild, the motor i have is only 20,000 miles old anyway i was just hoping that o-ringing would be any easy way to insure against blown head gskets, apparently it is not in my case

I want them to suit 86 mm bores and 89mm bores. I will go to the wills site and give you some part numbers if possible.

What sort of pumps do you service/sell wilson-snyder, geho or similar?????

Funny the similarities between pumps and auto engines. The main difference is that the reciprocating high pressure pumps are built much stronger than auto engines.

I bet the use of O rings and gas rings in engines came about from some pump repairer/engineer. The cylinder pressuresand sealing problems in auto engines are small compared to high pressure pumps.

Thats why this forum is so good (the diversity of talents that contribute).

Right, well then this engine should`ve been built with some serious BOOST in mind.
This is not intended to insult anyone, but don`t you think it should`ve been done
right the first time ?.

Yes I couldnt agree more, but this set up was built on a budget the engine is compleatly standard, even down to the staandard carby and points dizzy, yet will still blow away a standard VL turbo.

It HAS proved to be reliable, it has been to the drag strip several times and compleated 10, 15 second passes in one day with out a single engine problem.....from a internally standard engine....what more do you want???

and as RC said I played with this combination b4 going to a ca18 just for a bit of cheep fun

And if it goes bang, well theres another hundred dollars and a bit of time down the drain. Cheap compared to an SR or CA blowup

I have been getting inspired by the low cost turbo formula. I wonder how much you can get out of a stocker engine with a little puffing

HEAPS, i got it up and running again tonight and it tonks!!

but i need to do head gasket, she leaves a good trail of smoke and bubbles through the radiator a fair bit

it was a lot of mucking around with 4 of us working on it but finally got it good with a bit of hole elongation and other dodgey stuff

it seems to want to make more and more boost (gets to about 10psi) and at about 5500 revs it just cuts out like the fuel is not getting through anymore so im going to have to figure out how to turn the turbos down and see if that helps, fuel pressure is 14psi, and supposedly my bov is 7psi but i make upto 10psi, i dont understand how that works

Are you at the flow limit for the needle and seat. Mixture check needed to check for lean out. Also could the fuel line need a size upgrade to allow more fuel flow.
Sounds like fun! even if a bit dodgy
