In the states, all our Datsun 1200s have run unleaded since around 1989. I see no valve seat wear in any of the engines I've torn down.

In 1974, Nissan changed the valve seat material, presumably for unleaded fuel. In 1976, Calfornia models had a catalytic converter, so required Unleaded. They didn't change the valves or seats that year.

spoke the guy this arvo and he said he's put in hardened valve seats so it can run the unleaded without a problem, however, a good mate's got a 120y and he runs unleaded without a problem in his

ive never tried regular in my ute but i noticed a hell of a difference in smoothness and whatnot with premium after i was running leaded

I switched from leaded to unleaded just recently when leaded petrol became unavailable locally.

I use an additive (Flashlube) but I definately need to retard the timing otherwise I get pinging.
