As some people said acid comes back years later and stuff's up your paint job which I'm sure you wouldnt want so id say stay away from acid.

Use paint stripper on the roof and 1/4 panels. put it on with a brush and then put a plastic sheet over it so it doesn't dry out.

leave it to it bubles and then remove the plastic. scrap the rest or with a paint scraper. use thinners for final clean up.

for the rust a wire wheel on the grinder and rust converter is best.
