1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe
All original
Well maintained
Factory air conditioning
Here is a real nice RARE find. A 1973 Datsun 1200, one of the last years it was made. These have a very strong following as there are not many that survive yet they are a practical classic for daily use. They can be easily modified, handle well and is pretty peppy. It is easy and fun to drive, turns on a dime, and best of all with gas prices as high as they are, gets around 30mpg in town! Here is a little about this car.
The car was originally purchased new here in our small town at one of the few dealerships in the northwest. I recently purchased the car from the 2nd owner. It was her high school car back in 1979 and she drove it or another car until 2 years ago. It is in nice original condition which is hard to find. There is no reserve so have fun with the bidding, someone will take it home.
Engine:
These engines are notoriously reliable and efficient. The car was very well maintained mechanically as the owner last owners father is an automotive machinist and so anytime she thought the power was going down, they would rebuild the engine, a job she said had been done several times. Not more than 5000 miles ago, the heads were gone through. The engine starts up immediately every time and runs smooth, strong and nice.
Brakes:
All brake pads look about new and everything seems in good shape. Brakes are firm but as there is no vacuum booster, you do have to push on the brakes hard to stop.
Drivetrain, suspension and steering:
4 speed transmission slides through all the gears quickly and smoothly. Synchros are great on upshifts and downshifts. I have had a 1970 510 and 1965 320 and I have always thought that the Datsun transmissions shifted nicer than anything else I have ever driven, this is no exception. Entire drivetrain is very tight and responsive with no slop in the rear end or driveline. Steering is the same
