it was parked alone and looked to be one of the few unmolested 1200's out there.

i must say, the road out to birdwood was just as enjoyable as the car museum itself.
As was the road out to mt. lofty which i think was called greenhill rd or something similar to that.

i would have loved to drive those roads in my datto! nevermind, needless to say the hyundai getz (hire car)
that i was driving definately got a work out

its a lovely state you adelaide people have there. i look foreward to visiting again someday

Some of the Classic Adelaide stages pass through there, also thats where some of our "1200 cruises" go.

I wanted to hold the latest cruise while you were here but time didn't permit... sorry.

Adam.

no problems adam

we all know what its like trying to get a few datto's together let alone trying to do it on short notice.

mik your not talking about that glen osmand freeway or whatever its called out to mt lofty are you?

the slight incline had the auto getz i was driving going up a gear, then down a gear, then up a gear, then down a gear, every 5 seconds just so it could hold 100kph on the speedo

i hate auto!

what was interesting was on the inbound side going downhill the kitty litter runoff areas they had set up in a couple of places which i presume are for heavy trucks who run out of brakes down the hill

i was tempted to try it out

Well, by way of reply to Ange's PM, I gotta stay that it looks like the same one, but with new paint & flares. I suppose that it's possible that more than one was made, but I doubt it. [See the first post in this thread.]
That's me at the wheel, in Goulburn, back in about 1981 or so.

In the museum shot it looks like it was revamped after almost 20 years to do duty & fly the flag for the Sydney Olympics

It was used extensively in street parades. The handset would raise & lower as it drove along.
That's how come I was driving it. Lilac time festival in Goulburn.
