did they come from factory with reverse lights???

and if yes where is the wires that connect to the gearbox???

the wires i think are near the lights but i cant see any that go from body to the box...

did the early 70 and 71 come out with a month/year or just year on id tag???

because its so old the id tag only shows the engraved engine and body number the rest of the details are worn away from age
the rta says aslong as the body number is vissible it dont matter has any1 else had this before and what did you do as i just put stickers to show the model year etc so if they wanted to check underneath they can peal off

would this be ok???

if some1 with a pre 71 model can answer these questions and tell me any differences between the early 70 models to the 80 models it would be much appreciated
so far i been told on pre 71
no hazzards
no retractable belts
mph dash
no compliance plate
metal grill
no side mirrors

my 70 model 1600 had adr plate . but when i stripped it for rebuild i put it in a safe place so i wouldnt lose it. guess what. i lost it . when spoke to rta the told me that it was now pre adr so wouldnt need it . going of the taillights that are available for the utes you would say they had reverse lights . earlyer model datsun had them . so its were already usingthem then. the wires for reverse lights should only be 2 wires but and will be long enough to reach that spot . being that your car is 37 years old hard to say that someone hasnt modified it in some way over that time . ive had couple cars where reverse light switch is no good so they have been hooked up on toggle switch .

With the 1971 cars, the reverse light wires go from the engine compartment back to the transmission along the tunnel.

Can you see the chassis number? It should be stamped in the sheet metal of the firewall, just below the bonnet.

if reverse light wires went through tunnel from engine bay there deffinatley been chopped and there not there any more so ill have to run new wires from in the cab to box and back to lights

ddgonzal...
yes the engine and chassis number is stamped in the plate on driver side
and also in body above firewall
but
the rest of the details of the id plate are not there as there worn away only visible thing on plate is the
engine.no.
chassis.no.

i asked blueslip place and they said they can use the chassis number to find the details like build date make and model through the rta

so i guess i just have to go for rego and see what happens now

has any1 else had this problem and what was done to fix it???

thanks guys
