The basic model code breakdown, using Bx10 as an example for our small Datsuns is, ..
B= Small Datsun model line
x= no indication= first model, 1= second model, 2= Third model, 3= Fourth model
10= Passenger model
20= Truck model, either pickup or Ute.

The 1000 Ute was ALWAYS known as a B20 despite evidence of some chassis bearing the B10 code. [using pre numbered inner guards that were meant for sedan production.]

The 1200 Ute was ALWAYS known as the B120 even if some individual vehicles were incorrectly marked at the factory or elsewhere.

Additionally, the last character [0] signified the core variant, but subvariants could change this, eg, the B122 is the long wheelbase 1200 ute.

The number 210 on its own when applied to our small Datsuns is the US model name for the B310, known to us in Aust. as the Sunny. This same car was also known as a 120Y in some other markets.

Thanks alot for the breakdown. So my ute is known as a b120. cool. I was looking for some new plates but it seems most combinations now are taken.

No, your ute is a B120, not a b120.
Sorry, but I'm a pedantic SOB.
