Well the fuel pumps in a box idea has been knocked over for now, so until I build up the cash for a drop tank I'm going to bolt my external bosch 044 fuel pump, carter lift pump and surge tank under the car somewhere. (It's a 1200 Coupe)

What locations have other people been sucessfull with? (Pic would be really nice)

I just loosened one of the bolts holding the tank down and attached my fuel pump to that , then tightened it up, so it is just under the car attached by a bolt, hasnt moved in five years.

Thanks for some ideas - I'll have a go on the weekend.....if all else fails I've always got my Bunnings Box! - But that involves a rear firewall in the coupe....which I don't really want to do yet.

Looks like there should be a bit of room under there.

I've got to find a spot for the surge tank too!

mildman whatever you do dont do what the bloke that did mine did. its a holley red pump and to fit it in he cut a cross in the floor and folded the edges out then put a spc fruit tin can on top of it and painted it black
can anybody say "not happy jan"
ive owned the car for a year and a half and still havent gotten round to fixing it yet

Sounds nasty! I'm just going to climb under the car....find a nice spot for the hi pressure pump that is pretty much in line with the fuel rail of the engine. That will save some pipe bending.

Then look for some space around the fuel tank for the surge tank and carter black lift pump.

Man I wish I had a hoist...life would be so much easier!

Found a possible spot for everything, as there is some space between the fuel tank and the floor....but does the fuel tank move up and down much whilst your driving? What sort of clearance do I have to give (pics to help explain)

Check out the Nice Coupe photo of the black monster. He has the surge tank setup where his battery normally is. Battery in boot too no doubt. Also I have a mate nathan who will be at the ozdat dyno day who has set his up in a battery box in the boot. It is adequate from a venting point of view due to the nature of battery fumes so engineers are cool with it.

You mean look at more of Velcoti's photo? - of that black coupe? or are the posted by some other member?

i see it now further down in the comments of the "Nice Coupe" shot....seems to be some sort of oil catch can rather than surge tank I think in place of a battery.

So who knows if fuel tanks move around a lot when your driving?
