Hey all, my 1200 is unregistered, but according to an old sticker on the windshield was last rego'd in 1999. My problem is that there is not a compliance plate on the vehicle. It's a 2 door sedan, so prob'ly shipped in privately.
Will this cause me any problems at the pits?

Do you have green slip and pink slip? should be on that.

Sorry I forgot to mention I am in WA, vehicle was purchased unlicenced so no change over papers required.
I have a receipt to prove ownership though.

Datsun 1200 passenger models's do not have a 'compliance' plate as they pre date the ADR's that the compliance plate says that the car complies with.

They did, however, come with a manufacturers ID plate which is a seperate plate & completely different. Later model cars had both.
To get the good oil, you could always get onto the rego Nazi's web site & have a read, or alternately, ring them up.

Tell them exactly what the problem is & let them tell you how to go about overcoming the problem.

My bet is you will have to sign a statdec sying you are the owner. I had to do this to a trailer I had when I misplaced the transfer papers. Good luck and hurry up and get the car on the road and up to jacks hill for the summer hillclimbs. Can't wait to see another a14 singing.

i purchased a 1600 years ago that had no tags at all, and it had been a unregoed race car for year.

i had no problem getting it on the road up here in QLD. just got a road worthy and took it in.

Thats right in vic they told me i had to sign a stat dec and have the old rego number and they could re rego it with out any id plates.

As long as the car has a VIN it will be all o.k. Even in Vic if the car has no VIN Vicroads will issue a VIN and it's all cool.

That sound encouraging, thanks for the info. This car has cost me too much already, hate to be told I cant rego it!
